Over 30 people in the technical team of The Bucharest National Opera
participated in study visits in the Teatro alla Scala in Milan

During October 2010, the project studiOpera continued with a series of study visits made by ONB employees to the Academy and Teatro alla Scala, giving the chance to over 30 people from the technical team to interact with the experts of the most famous opera house in the world! At the same time, representatives of the Academy and Teatro alla Scala were present in Bucharest, to observe how the current activity at the Bucharest National Opera is carried out, in order to prepare the courses that are to be organized within the project.

On the occasion of the transnational meeting in Milan, held at the beginning of September 2010, the three partners in the studiOpera project – Academy and Teatro alla Scala, the Bucharest National Opera and SVASTA ICG Romania – decided that the training needs for the professionals in the field of stage professions will be set after another set of study visits of the ONB employees in Milan, as well as some study visits of the course leaders of the Academy and Teatro alla Scala in Bucharest.

From September 25th to October 3rd, 2010 a team of 15 employees of the Bucharest National Opera went to Milan (tailoring, shoemaking, textile dying, millinery, hairdressing, theatre make-up workshops), accompanied by the technical responsible of the project. The team had the possibility to visit the famous Ansaldo workshops of Teatro alla Scala in Milan, and those of the Academy, and to discover their organizing methods. Likewise, the team was also able to study the actual work done to prepare the performances, and they participated in the general rehearsals scheduled at La Scala during this time: L'Occasione fa il ladro (Gioacchino Rossini) and L'Elisir d'Amore (Gaetano Donizetti).

From the 11th to the 15th of October, another team of 12 stage technicians of the Bucharest National Opera (machinists, property masters, electricians, upholsters, carpenters, painters) went to Milan, accompanied by the technical responsible of the project. They were also able to assist in the preparations for the performance L'Elisir d'Amore (Gaetano Donizetti).

From the 19th until the 23rd of October, the team of set and costume designers from ONB, a stage director and the light engineer were present in Milan, where they were coached by Angelo Sala, set and costume designer and coordinator of Ansaldo workshops. The team participated in the light rehearsal for the performance Carmen (Georges Bizet) and then for the performance L'Elisir d'amore (Gaetano Donizetti).
