At the Rotterdam conference, generically entitled “OPERA without borders”, 188 representatives of opera theatres (members of the Opera Europa association, among which we find the Bucharest National Opera and the Accademia Teatro alla Scala) from 24 countries were present: general and artistic directors, coordinators of international projects, communications directors, directors, set and costume designers, and also opera composers, producers and journalists. In front of this audience, the team of the studiOpera project – formed of Cătălin Ionescu Arbore, General Director of the National Opera House in Bucharest, Anda Tabacaru Hogea, project manager studiOpera and Florence Plouchart-Cohn, project manager representing Accademia Teatro alla Scala – held a 15 minute presentation focusing on the aims and the importance of the project and which contained a brief description of the beneficiary and of the partners and a summary of the activities that formed the first phase of the project (the research phase).

In addition to the PowerPoint presentation delivered by the team, all the conference participants received our printed support materials during the first day of the conference.

At the end, Nicholas Payne, the director of the Opera Europa association, congratulated our team for starting this project. Moreover, numerous lyrical theatre directors were interested in receiving additional information and in keeping in touch with our team in order to follow the development of the project.
